In the Women’s Premier League, some batters score runs quickly, and some score them incredibly quickly. The fastest fifties are measured by the number of balls faced. The record is 18 balls. To make it into the top ten, a batter needs 25 balls or fewer. Between these numbers lie innings that have changed matches, won games, and demonstrated what power hitting means in modern T20 cricket.

Ten women have scored the fastest fifties in WPL history from 2023 to 2025. They come from different countries and play for different teams. They bat in different positions. Some open the innings. Some finish the innings. Some steady the team during a collapse. But they all do one thing: they score fifty runs faster than almost anyone else in the league. The table shows their names, the number of balls they took, and the matches in which these feats occurred. The details reveal how they did it.

Sophia Dunkley: Eighteen Balls

Sophia Dunkley scored the fastest fifty in WPL history. She achieved this in just eighteen balls. This match was played between Gujarat Giants Women and Royal Challengers Bangalore Women on March 8, 2023, at Brabourne Stadium. She scored sixty-five runs off twenty-eight balls, including eleven fours and three sixes. Her strike rate was 232.14.

This innings helped Gujarat Giants post a massive total. She was awarded the Player of the Match award. A fifty in eighteen balls means scoring runs at an extraordinary pace right from the first ball. There’s no time to settle in. There’s no time to get set. You attack immediately and keep attacking.

This is the joint-fastest fifty in the history of the tournament. No one has done it faster. Another player has equaled it, but no one has broken the record. The record still stands.

Chinelle Henry: Eighteen Balls

Chinelle Henry equaled a record. She scored a half-century in 18 balls for UP Warriorz Women against Delhi Capitals Women in Bengaluru on February 22, 2025. She scored 62 runs off 23 balls in her innings, which included eight sixes. Her strike rate was 269.56.

This was one of the highest strike rates for a half-century in the WPL. What makes it even more remarkable is that she batted at number eight. This is the highest score by any batter batting at number six or lower in the WPL. Such innings are rare from the lower order, where batting is generally considered weaker and conditions are more challenging. Henry defied all expectations and smashed eight sixes in her 23-ball innings.

Equaling the record for the fastest fifty while batting at number eight demonstrates power, skill, and fearlessness. Most batters at that position simply try to survive and score a few runs. But Henry dismantled the bowling attack.

Shafali Verma: Nineteen Balls

Shafali Verma scored the third-fastest fifty in WPL history, reaching the milestone in just nineteen balls. This match was played between Delhi Capitals Women and Gujarat Giants Women on March 11, 2023, at DY Patil Stadium. She is a key batter for Delhi Capitals and a T20 specialist known for her aggressive opening batting.

Overall in the WPL, she has scored 985 runs in thirty-one matches at a strike rate of 156.35. This strike rate demonstrates her consistent ability to score runs quickly. Her explosive style helped her achieve the rapid fifty against Gujarat Giants. One ball slower than the record, but still exceptionally fast.

Opening batters face the new ball, but they also benefit from fielding restrictions, which provide opportunities to hit boundaries. Verma capitalizes on these opportunities better than most players.

Sophie Devine: Twenty Balls

Sophie Devine scored the fourth fastest half-century, reaching the milestone in just 20 balls. This match was played between Royal Challengers Bangalore Women and Gujarat Giants Women at the Brabourne Stadium on March 18, 2023. She scored 99 runs off 36 balls, with a strike rate of 275.00. Her innings included nine fours and eight sixes.

Missing a century by just one run after such a brilliant innings is unfortunate, but this knock helped RCB chase down a challenging total against Gujarat Giants. A strike rate of 275 means scoring almost three runs per ball. Seventeen boundaries in 36 balls means a boundary was hit almost every other ball.

Devine’s experience and power-hitting were on full display. She has been playing T20 cricket around the world for years and knows how to dismantle a bowling attack.

Harmanpreet Kaur: Twenty-Two Balls

Harmanpreet Kaur scored the fifth-fastest fifty, reaching the milestone in just 22 balls. This match was played between Mumbai Indians Women and Gujarat Giants Women at the DY Patil Stadium on March 4, 2023. She scored 65 runs off 30 balls, including 14 fours.

Hitting 14 fours in 30 balls without relying on sixes is a remarkable display of boundary hitting. Each four requires precise timing and placement. Kaur is one of India’s top T20 players and among the highest run-scorers in WPL history. Her innings boosted Mumbai Indians’ total and was a major highlight of the batting performances in the inaugural WPL season.

Scoring fifty runs in 22 balls is so fast that it can completely change the momentum of a match.

Bharti Fulmali: Twenty-Two Balls

Bharti Fulmali equaled Kaur’s record by scoring fifty runs in just twenty-two balls. This match was played between Gujarat Giants Women and Mumbai Indians Women in Mumbai on March 10, 2025. She scored sixty-one runs off twenty-five balls, including eight fours and four sixes.

As a powerful middle-order batter for Gujarat Giants, she handled a challenging situation in that match. Middle-order batters often face difficult circumstances. Wickets have fallen, the run rate is low, and the pressure is immense. Fulmali steadied the innings with aggressive batting and by hitting boundaries.

Richa Ghosh: Twenty-Three Balls

Richa Ghosh scored the seventh fastest fifty in WPL history, reaching the milestone in just 23 balls. This match was played between RCB Women and Gujarat Giants Women in Vadodara on February 14, 2025. She scored 64 runs off 27 balls.

Ghosh is one of the most consistent performers in the WPL and is among the top run-scorers in the league’s history. Her 23-ball fifty showcases her incredible speed and power. She’s not just a wicketkeeper; she’s a power hitter who can finish innings and win matches.

Kiran Navgire: Twenty-Four Balls

Kiran Navgire scored the eighth fastest fifty, reaching the milestone in just 24 balls. This match was played between UP Warriorz Women and Delhi Capitals Women in Vadodara on February 19, 2025. She completed her fifty in a very short time, showcasing her aggressive batting style for UP Warriorz.

Navgire is known for her ability to hit big shots when in good form. She is a crucial player in the middle order. In just 24 balls, the bowlers don’t get much time to settle down or set a proper defensive field.
